Suicide among prison inmates is a critical and pressing issue, posing a significant challenge for correctional institutions. Incarcerated individuals often face intense psychological distress, including feelings of hopelessness, isolation, and despair, which can be exacerbated by the harsh realities of prison life. Limited access to mental health care, coupled with the stigma surrounding mental illness, further compounds the problem. Addressing this issue requires comprehensive strategies that include improved mental health services, increased staff training, and the creation of a supportive environment to help mitigate the risk and provide inmates with the care and compassion they need.
